Magic at Sølvane Gard

If you ever visit Gloppen in Western Norway, you must visit Sølvane Gard. The drive along the lake and the view of the surrounding mountains is amazing. This drive is truly magical. At the end of the lake you will find a very small village called Kandal, where you will find the farm Sølvane Gard. The farm is owned by the inspiring couple Torstein and Eivind. Eivind grew up on the farm and is today an opera singer. Together with his partner Torstein, he has started with concerts, dinner events and wine tastings on the farm. Meeting Torstein and Eivind is an experience in itself. They are so inspiring and welcoming, and you feel happy and special right away!

They have built six luxurious cabins and a small restaurant on the farm grounds. From the cabins and restaurant you can enjoy the beautiful view, eat food made from local ingredients and of course participate in the events.

Art made from wool

In the restaurant you will find a wool artwork made by flock & fjell. It is specially made for Sølvane Gard and inspired by the people, the view and the events at Sølvane Gard. It is symbolized as a bonfire where the sparks are the memories that will last forever.

The artwork is made of several layers of wool and silk. Most of the silk is dyed with stone lichen, a lichen that grows on the rocks in the mountains around Sølvane Gard.

The artwork creates a beautiful atmosphere in the room and improves the acoustics. In addition, the air quality is improved. Wool regulates the humidity in the room, which is a very welcome quality in a restaurant.
