At Norconsult in Sogndal, flokk & fjell was commissioned to develop a tailor-made acoustic solution for the canteen, a room where both function and experience are important in everyday life.
The starting point was a desire to draw the nature of Vestland into the space, and create a holistic visual connection with the surroundings outside.
The panel, measuring 3 x 1.5 meters, is developed as a single motif inspired by the landscape of the region. The muted green tones and organic transitions evoke associations with forests, mountains and vegetation – interpreted in a calm and tactile expression.
The solution is in dialogue with the other elements in the room. A mountain motif is foiled on the glass wall facing the meeting room, while the view on the opposite side opens up to the actual nature with fjord and mountains.
Together, this creates a consistent narrative where interior and surroundings blend into each other.
As in our other projects, the panel is made of natural materials, with a focus on craftsmanship and durability. The acoustic function is integrated into the expression, contributing to a more pleasant sound environment in a room with high activity.
The result is a solution that both attenuates sound and enhances the room's identity. A clear example of how tailor-made acoustic installations can contribute to holistic and meaningful spatial experiences.
